How to Take Apart the Canister Cleaner of the S3590 Hoover Vacuum

In this tutorial you will learn how to take apart the S3590 Hoover vacuum. This vacuum cleaner is a canister vacuum that utilizes Hoover Allergen filtration to keep the dirt in the bag. Its powerful suction makes it really easy to remove dirt and debris from carpet, hardwood, and tile floors. Remember that you should perform maintenance on your vacuum cleaner often to prevent more severe problems or costly repairs.

You don’t need many tools to take the vacuum apart. All you need is a philip screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver to push on the plastic clips that holds the parts together. Click on any of the pictures for a larger view.

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1- First turn the Hoover vacuum cleaner off, and unplug the power cord from the wall. Open the filter bag door by pressing on the latch and remove the filter bag. Remove any extra attachments and accessories.

STEP 2 - There is a small screw located at the rear cover of the vacuum. Remove it and take off the rear plastic piece of the vacuum. Remember to turn the screw to the left to remove it.

STEP 3-With the rear cover removed you should see two screws holding the top cover. Unscrew the two small screws shown circled below

STEP 4 – Lift the tool lid and undo the two small screws shown circled below. Carefully remove the top
lip after removing the screws.  The top cover should lift off pretty easily.

STEP 5 – Now the only thing holding the top cover in place with the bottom cover is the power connector shown below. Simply unplug this connector with the help of a flat screwdriver and the top cover of the canister filter will lift off.

STEP 6 – To remove the ON/OFF pedal simply flip the top cover upside down and carefully push back the four clips shown circled below. The ON/OFF pedal should come out. Do the same for the cord rewind pedal.

STEP 7 – With the ON/OFF and cord rewind pedal removed you should be able to see the screws holding the suction control slider. Remove these two screws and gently push back the clip shown below

Now to put the Hoover S3590 vacuum cleaner back together simply repeat the above steps in reverse.
